Poetry
Poem
This poem,
This poem,
What will it say?
This poem,
This poem,
Will teach poetry today.
Poetry,
Generates our thinking.
It makes us picture,
The pictures we can’t
see.
When you try to write them,
Keep in mind,
It should have beat,
And maybe some rhyme.
Like Ernest Thayer’s
Casey at Bat.
Its rhyming pattern is
1,1,2,2.
You might want to follow
that.
Every word written,
Must have its own
meaning,
If it does not,
Your poem will hang.
An example,
The Eagle by Alfred
Tennyson,
“He clasps the crag with
crooked hands.”
A word-efficient line.
Poetry,
It reaches out and touches
our hearts,
Like the last stanza in
The Arrow and the Song by Henry Longfellow.
Poetry shows what awesome
people we are,
And can show our good
sides gone wrong.
It relieves our anger,
And is a way to release
pain or joy,
Like when everyone is
arguing,
Or you get a new toy.
Poetry,
It helps us remember each other,
Foreign kids can read it,
For it lacks grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
It gives the gift of rhythm and beat,
And will turn into a musical treat.
Sometime a line sticks with our brain,
Because it is inspiring.
And sometimes,
We will look at things
from a different angle.
Poetry,
Everyone can write it.
It doesn’t have to be
simple or complex,
It will show the value of
our lives,
It can be done
forever…
